Wendover Plume Agate

From a lapidary perspective, agate, a form of microcrystalline quartz, is a variant of chalcedony. When it exhibits light transmission through its edges or areas, coupled with color, it is often termed agate. However, geologists restrict the term agate to specimens featuring banding or color patterns, while translucent chalcedony is referred to by its mineral name. Microscopic examination is essential for definitive identification. Our collection comprises a range of agate lapidary slabs acquired over the years.  To avoid confusion, we utilize common trade names for our products.
