Agate Lapidary Slabs

Wendover Plume Agate

A selection of agate lapidary slabs we’ve collected over the years.

Agate is a form of chalcedony which is a type of microcrystalline quartz.

Chalcedony is often considered or called agate if light can be seen through it on the edges or other areas and it has color within it.

Although translucent chalcedony is often called agate, geologists usually call it chalcedony unless it contains a structure known as banding or colored patterns.  In order to truly identify an agate, it must be examined under a microscope.

To avoid confusion,  we share our products using their most common trade names.
