Because it was nearly 100 degrees Fahrenheit we decided we would do a quick trip right near home. We visited a location only a few minutes from Salina, Utah.

Due to the heat, we only spent a few minutes. Like most of our rockhounding trips, we didn’t collect anything and didn’t find anything unique. Although we didn’t find anything new or unique we had lots of fun as always. Here is just a little bit of what we saw.

Some nice druzy on a stone.
This is what appears to be Stromatolite. The fossilized remains of what was once cyanobacteria
Just a fun piece of sandstone
Salina Breccia. This material makes beautiful cabochons.
A small tree growing on a large boulder.
An interesting plant growing in a crack in a rock.
