A Visit to Utah Dump Digger

Today (Dec. 22, 2019) we had the opportunity to see Tyree Lamph the owner of Utah Dump Digger. There were quite a few baskets full of lapidary slabs. Here are a couple of them.

We had an enjoyable visit and had the opportunity to purchase lots of local material as well as some other material that he has collected, much of which came from estate sales and private collections.

Salina Wonderstone
Red Horn Coral
Lucin Variscite
Grape Agate

We purchase some small quantities of material while we were there. Some of the material we hadn’t seen before.

We were especially happy to get a few nice pieces of Flowering Tube Onyx which come from nearby Nephi, Utah but are difficult to obtain these days.

We purchased a few promising pieces of flowering tube onyx. Here is a couple of them.

Tyree told us his favorite material is Gem Bone and we could see that he had quite a bit of nice dino bone available. Because it was Christmas time we were low on funds and could only make a small purchase so we weren’t able to get any dino bone on this visit but we hope to purchase some later this year.

There was quite a bit of dino bone, here’s a little that was sitting on a table.

The prices for some of the more common rough were very affordable and the more rare rough was reasonably priced.

There were several large piles of rock. This pile is petrified wood.

Utah Dump Digger is a fun little rock shop is located just a couple of miles off I-15 at 7203 W 7750 N, American Fork, UT 84003
