Description
Not to be confused with the beautiful purple Royal Aztec Agate from the same general location, Aztec Agate from Durango, Mexico, is a distinct and attractive material.
Initially, we acquired only a limited quantity, and upon preliminary inspection, we were not particularly impressed, so it was promptly stored away. Upon eventually cutting the rough, we were pleasantly surprised to discover attractive red, pink, yellow, and orange colors within the rock, with each piece distinctly different from one another.
Should the opportunity to procure additional quantities of this exceptional material arise, it will undoubtedly be accorded priority status within our collection.
A small piece of this exceptional rough specimen has been preserved as a display piece, highlighting vibrant colors and a striking botryoidal chalcedony pocket.
Royal Aztec Agate (Rock #1)
Royal Aztec Agate (Rock #2)
Aztec agate rock #2 was our preferred choice and, fortunately, it was the largest piece of Aztec Agate we purchased. This rough exhibited exceptional colors and patterns that will make amazing cabochons.
Royal Aztec Agate (Rock #3)
Rock #3 was a stunning red piece of Aztec Agate, albeit quite thin, allowing for only a few small slabs to be cut. While predominantly red, it also featured intriguing patterns and colors within.
Royal Aztec Agate (Rock #4)
Aztec Agate rock #4 yielded a delightful discovery, revealing itself to be a fine gold moss agate accompanied by light pink pockets.
Royal Aztec Agate (Rock #5)
Aztec Agate rock #5 exhibited some chips that provided insight into its potential internal appearance. The rock was thin, yet its colors and patterns were truly exceptional.
