Today, December 22, 2019, we had the opportunity to visit Tyree Lamph, the owner of Utah Dump Digger. There were quite a few baskets full of lapidary slabs. Here are a couple of them.

We enjoyed our visit and had the opportunity to purchase a variety of local materials, as well as other items from his collection, much of which came from estate sales and private collections.

Salina Wonderstone
Red Horn Coral
Lucin Variscite
Grape Agate

We purchased some small quantities of material while we were there, including some we hadn’t seen before. We were especially happy to get a few nice pieces of Flowering Tube Onyx from nearby Nephi, Utah, as they are difficult to obtain these days. Here are a couple of the promising pieces we purchased.

Tyree shared that his favorite material is Gem Bone, and we observed he had a good supply of nice dino bone. Since it was Christmas time, our funds were limited, so we could only make a small purchase and didn’t get any dino bone this visit, but we hope to acquire some later this year.

There was quite a bit of dino bone, here’s a little that was sitting on a table.

The prices for common rough were very affordable, while the rarer materials were reasonably priced.

There were several large piles of rock. This pile is petrified wood.
