Utah Dump Digger, located in American Fork, Utah, is situated within a two-hour driving distance of our residence; therefore, we frequently make visits. During June 2021, we conducted a brief stop and acquired several items. While the quantity of material obtained on this occasion was not substantial, we were able to procure some desirable pieces.
Opalized Petrified Wood
We were able to purchase a few pieces of opalized petrified wood during our recent visit to Utah Dump Digger. The origin of this captivating material is Silver Creek Junction, situated near Park City, Utah. This discovery is particularly exciting for us, as we have a genuine passion for working with common opal, and unfortunately, this specific type of material is now a rarity due to the extensive development that has occurred in the region over the past several decades.
Coprolite From The Henry Mountains
This remarkable piece of Coprolite, representing fossilized dinosaur excrement originating from approximately 156 to 146 million years ago during the Jurassic period, hails from the scenic Henry Mountains region in Central Utah. The intriguing surface displays captivating bright red spots, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the potential wonders that may lie concealed within.
Laguna Lace Agate
While this particular piece of Laguna Lace Agate may not have boasted an abundance of vibrant color, it compensated with an array of captivating patterns, which ultimately led us to make the purchase. We are optimistic that we will be able to extract several attractive slabs from this intriguing specimen.
Leopard Skin Jasper
We were fortunate to acquire a couple of pieces of Leopard Skin Jasper during our visit. This captivating material was once readily available in most rock shops, however, its presence has become increasingly rare in recent years. Concurrently, as the supply of this desirable jasper has diminished, the market price has experienced a noticeable upward trend.
