This Mexican Red Lace Agate is exceptionally beautiful. We are very pleased with this material and wish we had purchased a larger quantity. The five pounds we purchased yielded two pieces. One piece of the agate featured a considerable amount of clear areas, but the patterns are quite pleasing.
We prepared a few slabs to observe its appearance when cut. We were not disappointed. The clear areas provide a nice contrast; however, most of the material is too crumbly and delicate for cabochon work. The areas surrounding the colored portions of the stone are relatively solid, with only a fracture or two present.
The second piece we received is as impressive as one could reasonably anticipate. Although smaller, it was absolutely remarkable.
