Description

Victoria Stone, also referred to as Imori Stone, is a proprietary material developed by Dr. S. Iimori through a process involving the high-pressure fusion of natural minerals such as quartz, feldspar, magnesite, calcite, and fluorspar, followed by a controlled cooling period spanning 35-40 days. Production of Victoria Stone occurred from 1960 until Dr. Iimori’s passing in the 1980s, at which point the production secrets were lost. This distinctive chatoyant stone remains unique, as its production process has not been replicated, although a similar material known as Bridewell Stone has been recently developed using different materials and a distinct process. Consequently, the limited availability of Victoria Stone has rendered it highly collectible.

We were able to purchase a few small pieces at an auction held by the Old Pueblo Lapidary Club back in the 1990s.
