Description
These two slabs originate from an old collection purchased from a rock shop in Tucson, Arizona. Beyond being labeled ‘Mount Rainier Plume Agate’, no additional information is available. Notably, Mount Rainier itself has been designated a National Park since 1899. Although the exact location and date this was collected is unknown, it is worth noting that collecting rocks within the national park is currently prohibited.
It is highly probable that this agate was mislabeled or intentionally misidentified, given that Mount Rainier is an active volcano with no known similar agates in the area. It is more plausible that this is Graveyard Point Plume Agate or some other agate from Oregon or Idaho.
