Description
Inspiration Mine’s Silicated Chrysocolla and Malachite is highly prized for its color, hardness, and rarity. Located 6 miles northwest of Globe, the Inspiration Mine is the origin of this beautiful blue material. Mining activities first began at the site in 1896 under the Black Warrior Copper Company, with the Inspiration Mining Co. being established later in 1908.
At one time, the Inspiration Mine produced almost 4% of the nation’s copper. Freeport-McMoran Inc. now owns the property, which is now called the Miami Mine.
