Description
Gold Sheen Obsidian is a rare form of obsidian or volcanic glass that, at first appearance, looks nearly identical to black obsidian.
Looking closely, lines can be seen in the obsidian when viewed at the proper angle. These lines are caused by water vapor bubbles trapped inside the obsidian. These trapped bubbles create an illusion when light reflects off the bubbles called chatoyance.
This illusion is difficult to capture properly in photographs but can be seen in videos.
