Description
We acquired this rough specimen at a rock and gem exhibition in 2026. The vendor identified it as Casablanca Jasper. He indicated that it was also known by other names, but he was unable to recall them. Subsequent research identified three types of Moroccan Jasper with similar appearances. The purchased jasper most closely resembled Moroccan Picture Jasper, although Morocco High Atlas Jasper also presented a strong resemblance in both appearance and characteristics. We also observed a similar material being marketed as Moroccan Mookaite Jasper. We would not be surprised if these three jaspers were, in fact, the same material, marketed under different names to enhance market presence.
