We were able to aquire a couple of pounds of Shattuckite from Gallary TCR in Phoenix, Arizona.
They told us that this material was very old stock that came from the UFO or Planet mine in Arizona. Both mines were closed long ago.
The Planet copper mine was located in the northwest corner of La Paz County in the Buckskin Mountains in central western Arizona. It is one of the oldest copper mines discovered and worked by Americans in Arizona. It produced high grade ore between 1864 and 1874.
The UFO Mine was located in Yavapai County, outside the border of the Hassayampa River wilderness area. It was an open-pit mine that closed several years ago. It is now located on state trust land so no collecting is allowed.
