Description

This was procured at the Tucson Gem Show circa 2000. Notably, Rowley Mine Chrysocolla is distinguished by its exceptional hardness and distinctive layered coloration. Arizona is home to numerous copper mines, where chrysocolla, a prevalent copper mineral, is often discovered. While chrysocolla boasts a captivating blue-green hue reminiscent of turquoise, its pure form typically exhibits considerable softness and brittleness. However, when found in a highly silicified state, chrysocolla attains a hardness comparable to quartz or agate, rendering it suitable for use in jewelry. Frequently, chrysocolla is found in conjunction with other copper minerals, including azurite, malachite, and cuprite.
