A nice example of Utah Jasper

Jasper lapidary slabs can be found in a wide variety of colors and patterns.

Jasper is a form of Chalcedony which is a type of microcrystalline quartz.

Unlike agate, little to no light can be seen to penetrate through this beautiful material.  It is relatively hard depending on the impurities within. The impurities give it unique colors and texture.

It may also be called chert or flint depending on how it was formed or where it originated. Some specimens are called jasper but are really other types of minerals such as Rhyolite or Feldspar.

To avoid confusion, our slabs are listed by the name they are marketed by and not necessarily their true geological composition.
