We acquired this Arizona chrysocolla slab, drawn to its remarkable coloration. We attempted to ascertain the specific origin within Arizona from the vendor, but they were unable to provide this information. While the lack of a precise origin typically deters our purchasing decisions, the attractive coloration ultimately led to its acquisition. Upon initial inspection, the slab displayed several cracks, necessitating its division into three pieces. Further examination revealed additional, previously unseen cracks. Consequently, we will likely stabilize the material due to its inherent brittleness and to reinforce any concealed fractures. We may also apply backing to the cabochons to enhance their protection.
